from the heat and winds that plague the island. A tall,
symmetrical reception area welcomes visitors. Over the
centre of this space, detached from the perimeter, is a
mezzanine floor with a fireplace, and a row of small
windows at a high level filter light into the room. The
double-height spaces between the mezzanine and the
perimeter direct warm air up and away from floor level
in hot weather. Bedrooms, kitchen and other private
areas are arranged to the west of this block. The house
is shaded by bamboo strips and offers spectacular
views over terraces, the pool and the Mediterranean
beyond.
